Packard Foundation supports UCSC Arboretum with $300,000 grant

Nation's first oiled wildlife center opens next to Long Marine Lab

State and local officials dedicated the new Oiled Wildlife Veterinary Care and Research Center today (July 21) in a ceremony on UCSC property next to the Joseph M. Long Marine Laboratory. The $5 million facility is the first of its kind in the nation. (Full-sized photo)

Numbers up for freshmen planning to attend UC
Nearly 25,200 California high school graduates are planning to attend the University of California as freshmen in the fall, up nearly 5 percent over last year. The number of incoming students planning to attend UCSC is also expected to rise.
