Honoring King's legacy Civil rights leader Myrlie Evers-Williams, whose activist husband was gunned down by a white supremacist in the family's driveway 35 years ago, will deliver the keynote speech at the 14th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Convocation on January 29. Chair of the national board of the NAACP, Evers-Williams was also depicted in the recent film Ghosts of Mississippi, which concluded with the the conviction of her husband's murderer in 1994.
