UCSC honors eight faculty members for excellence in teaching

UC task force recommends partnerships with schools
The university's Outreach Task Force has issued a draft report for public review that recommends that UC undertake a major expansion of its academic outreach to the state's K-12 schools.

UC Regent donates $100,000 for engineering scholarships
David S. Lee, chairman of CMC Industries of Santa Clara and a member of the UC Board of Regents, has pledged $100,000 to establish an endowed scholarship fund for the new Jack Baskin School of Engineering at UCSC.

UCSC selected to help develop new electronic superhighway
A consortium of California private and public universities, including UCSC and six other UC campuses, have embarked on a project to develop a sophisticated new network that will deliver information to each university at speeds at least 100 times faster than today's Internet.
