Reception honors friends and supporters of UC Santa Cruz

Chancellor Greenwood hosted some of UCSC's most generous donors and enthusiastic supporters at a reception during the Banana Slug Spring Fair. Held on April 19 at University House, the reception honored members of the Chancellor's Associates (donors of $2,500 or more) and Chancellor's Circle (donors of $1,000 to $2,499) who made gifts during the last school year or in the first part of 1996-97. It also honored people who have remembered the university in their wills or have pledged to donate to UCSC in the future. Board members of UCSC's friends groups and the trustees of the UC Santa Cruz Foundation also attended.

Most of the 130 guests were from the Santa Cruz area, but some traveled from as far away as Ojai, Marina del Rey, and Bakersfield. They enjoyed a buffet and received thanks from Chancellor Greenwood, who described UCSC's achievements and underscored the importance of their support.

Some of the guests included: former UCSC Foundation trustee Nell Cliff and her husband, Lee; Bruce and Betsy Cotter; Sue and Jim Dolkas; Grace and Michael Jacobs; UCSC Foundation president Stoddard Johnston; Dr. Gail and Roseanne Magid; Lillian McPherson Rouse; Dick and Mary Solari; Eleanor Wasson; Jim and Karen Watson; and Shakespeare Santa Cruz president Diane Wolfsen and her husband, Larry.
