Celebrating Mexican culture with dance

One of the oldest student-directed organizations on campus, Grupo Folklorico Los Mejicas de UC Santa Cruz is celebrating its 25th anniversary. The dance troupe marked the milestone during its Annual Spring Concert on May 30 and 31. (Photos)

Campus commencement ceremonies start Friday
UCSC's numerous commencement ceremonies start on Friday, June 13. Speakers this year include Chancellor Greenwood and storyteller and playwright Brenda Wong Aoki.


Currents Online will be produced every two weeks during the summer. The next issue will be posted on Monday, June 23.


Space allocations determined
In a letter to the campus community, Executive Vice Chancellor Tanner outlines the decisions made about space allocations in Kerr Hall, Natural Sciences II, McHenry Library, College 8, Stevenson College, and Social Sciences 2.

Thirteen students receive $20,000 scholarships
Thirteen talented students from regional community colleges have been awarded $20,000 scholarships to attend UCSC. Recipients receive $10,000 for each of two years.

Foundation elects new president; additional trustees named to board
The UC Santa Cruz Foundation has elected George Malloch of Belmont as president of the board, announced Daniel G. Aldrich III, assistant chancellor for University Advancement. In addition, the Foundation has appointed 11 new trustees.
