Newhouse News Service tapped Pamela Perry of community studies for a recent in-depth story about race relations, circulating the article to its 22 papers across the country.

Susan Schwartz, associate professor of Earth sciences and director of the Keck Seismological Laboratory, was interviewed by the Santa Cruz Sentinel and KION TV (Channel 46) about last week's magnitude 5 earthquake centered near Gilroy.

The San Francisco Chronicle tracked down Manuel Pastor of Latin American and Latino studies for a story about a Watsonville program that's helping span the digital divide by teaching Latinos computer skills.

Economist Lori Kletzer was interviewed by the Washington Post about pending legislation to establish a wage insurance program, a proposal she put forth last year while associated with a Washington think tank.

Research by biochemist David Deamer and graduate student Charles Apel suggesting that life began in a freshwater environment was the subject of a story in New Scientist magazine.
