Music professor David Cope was cited in Billboard magazine for creating a software program which compiled a single song from 193 national anthems.

Astronomer Gregory Laughlin was quoted in an article on planet formation in USA Today.

Pamela Perry of community studies discussed her new book about white racial identity on the California Report, a public radio program produced by KQED Radio and distributed across the state.

A front-page story in the Santa Cruz Sentinel focused on efforts by UCSC researchers to save threatened species, including research on sea otter populations in Alaska by James Estes, adjunct professor of ecology and evolutionary biology, and a project to save endangered foxes on the Channel Islands involving Brian Latta of the Santa Cruz Predatory Bird Research Group and Josh Donlan, a researcher with the Island Conservation and Ecology Group. Both groups are based at Long Marine Lab.

Manuel Pastor of Latin American and Latino studies penned a commentary about President Bush's missteps with Mexico for Minnesota Public Radio's Marketplace program.

Peter Orner of legal studies continues to get great press for his new collection of short fiction, Esther Stories, the latest a Q&A with the author in the Hartford Courant.
