Kip Tellez comes to UCSC from the University of Houston, where he specialized in urban teacher preparation. At UCSC, he is involved in the teacher credential/master's program and the education minor. His research focus is on preparing teachers to work in linguistically and culturally diverse classrooms. He specializes in English language learning and how language instruction is integrated into classroom content. At the policy level, Tellez is concerned about recruiting more people of color into the teaching profession. Tellez earned his bachelor's degree at California State University, Fullerton, and his master's and Ph.D. at Claremont Graduate School. |
