Professor Ronald Henderson has announced his retirement as Dean of the Graduate Division. Please join me in congratulating him and thanking him for his many years of dedicated service to UCSC. During Ron's long and distinguished career, he demonstrated exemplary commitment to UCSC and to graduate education, and the campus has benefited greatly from his wisdom and good judgment.

Effective immediately, Professor James Gill will act as the Interim Dean of the Graduate Division. Professor Gill presently also serves as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Research. He previously held the responsibility of Dean of the Graduate Division, and so is an ideal choice to assume this interim role. A search for a new permanent Dean of the Graduate Division will commence in the near future.
