Re: Road Closure Notice

Road Closure Tuesday, September 8, through Friday, September 18
UCSC Improvements to the Arts Facilities

Due to the construction of the new arts facilities at Performing Arts and Baskin Visual Arts, the Service Road to Kerr Hall, from the intersection of Meyer Drive to the intersection of the service road to the Foundry will be closed. Pedestrian and bicycle traffic will be detoured through Performing Arts and Baskin Visual Arts so access and circulation around the area can be maintained.

The road will be closed on Tuesday, September 8, 1998, at 7:00 a.m., and will remain closed until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 1998, to permit the installation of trench drains across the road, landscaping, final grading and paving.

We will be working closely with the Campus Police and the general contractor to enforce traffic laws, speed limits, and insure safety. We request all faculty, students, and staff use caution while walking, driving, or cycling in this area.

As with all construction projects, some inconveniences can be expected. Every attempt will be made to confine the work within the area around the project site and keep the disruptions to the campus at a minimum.

Please feel free to contact UCSC's Project Manager, David Tanza, at extension #9-2659 or UCSC's Project Inspector, Bob Wilt, at extension #9-2644, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.

Thank you for your patience.

Sincerely,

Frank Zwart,
AIA Assistant Vice Chancellor
Physical Planning and Construction
