COMMUNITY ALERT! RAPE REPORTED!

On September 28, 1998 the UCSC Police Department received an anonymous report from a woman who said she was raped near the painted water tanks on Chinquapin Fire Road, about a mile north of the Fire Station. She said that the assault occurred on Wednesday, September 16, 1998 between 10:30 - 11:00 a.m. In her description of the attack, she was walking with her dog when a man approached her from behind, grabbed the dog's leash and tied it to a tree. He raped her and left the area. No weapons or vehicles were seen.

THE VICTIM GAVE THE FOLLOWING DESCRIPTION OF THE ATTACKER:
* White male adult
* 20-25 years of age
* Approximately 6' tall, 200+ pounds
* Athletic build
* Blonde short hair, clean shaven, "clean-cut" appearance
* Freckled complexion
* Plaid long sleeve shirt w/sleeves rolled up, blue jeans, high top sneakers

We suggest that you be especially aware of your surroundings when walking alone in undeveloped areas of campus.
