To: All Faculty and Staff
Dear Colleagues:
I am pleased to announce that the Chancellor's Advisory Committee on a Faculty and Staff Center is strongly considering plans to establish such a facility on campus. The concept of a faculty and staff center has been discussed at UC Santa Cruz for quite some time, culminating in the identification of potential funding to initiate planning.
The most recent committee to consider this possibility believes that now is the right time to take action. For this reason, I would like all of you to take a few minutes to complete a survey that will be distributed to you next week. The survey--which is confidential because the data will be collected anonymously--will solicit your views on the potential for a faculty and staff center and the kinds of services or amenities it should offer the campus community.
We ask that you complete the survey within one week. Detailed instructions will accompany the survey, which will arrive in your mail on Friday, May 29. We ask that you return the survey in campus mail in the envelope provided no later than Friday, June 5, 1998. The surveys will be tabulated and scored in the Planning and Budget Office, and results of your input will be analyzed and shared by the committee.
Information generated by the survey will be disseminated to the campus community during the summer and early fall, and next steps will be considered at that time. Thank you all in advance for your willingness to participate in the survey effort. We appreciate your feedback.
Sincerely,
Professor Roger Anderson
