Curtis Marez
Assistant Professor of American Studies

Curtis Marez's area of focus is Chicano/Chicana literature and popular culture. He is the author of "Racial Sensations" (forthcoming), which examines historical perceptions of race and drug use, and is currently working on a manuscript titled "Becoming Brown," examining Chicano/Chicana popular culture since World War II. Since 1993, he has been an assistant professor of English at the University of Chicago, and he held a Ford Foundation Fellowship in 1997-98. He earned a B.A. and Ph.D. in English from UC Berkeley.
