Ali Shakouri
Assistant Professor of Computer Engineering

Ali Shakouri will become a faculty member in the planned Electrical Engineering Department when that program is established. He specializes in semiconductor physics, optoelectronics, and optical communication, with current projects focusing on wafer-fused optoelectronics for switching applications, fiber optics telecommunication systems, and study of microscale heat and current transport in semiconductors. Shakouri earned a degree in engineering from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications in Paris, France, and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena. He was an assistant research engineer at UC Santa Barbara before joining the UCSC faculty.
