The evolution of this brochure, produced by the SF AIDS Foundation to target heterosexuals, tells a revealing story: The brochure was originally published with the center image, which shows an interracial couple, but was subsequently withdrawn so that the image of the African-American couple on the left could be substituted on the English-language brochure. The original image was retained on the Spanish-language brochure, said Stoller, noting: "Clearly, ethnic diversity is acceptable among Spanish speakers but not for people who speak English."
