In front of 1,300 people at the Civic Auditorium, Evers-Williams gave a stirring convocation speech--invoking the memories of slain civil rights leaders Martin Luther King Jr. and her husband, Medgar Evers. She also challenged the audience to "seize the opportunity" to realize their potential and create a level playing field for all people.
