UCSC recently hosted a visit by legendary musician, Ali Akbar Khan. A master of the sarod (a stringed Indian instrument), Khan is considered one of the world's greatest living musicians.
Some 100 guests gathered at University House to honor Khan, who has taught at and visited the campus many times before. Among those in attendance were (l-r): Narpat Bhandari; Khan; Khan's wife, Mary Khan; Chancellor Greenwood; and Chandra Bhandari. The Bhandaris recently endowed the Chandra Bhandari Chair in India Studies at UCSC.
