Late last month, the governor signed into law a 1997-98 state budget that continues to provide University of California students with access to a quality education and freezes general student fees for the third consecutive year.

Campus telephone users will have to learn new dialing habits, as UCSC has switched from four-digit to five-digit extensions for on-campus numbers. The effective date for the change was Saturday, August 23.

At the invitation of local principals, UCSC's Title IX/Sexual Harassment Officer, Rita E. Walker, is spending several weeks presenting workshops on sexual harassment at junior high and middle schools in Santa Cruz County.
