[Picture of Belle Yang] Author and alumna Belle Yang, whose celebrated books of art and prose retell stories from her father's boyhood in China, will be the keynote speaker at the Tenth Annual Students of Color Conference on Saturday, January 25.

The conference is open to all members of the UCSC community and takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at College Eight; a reception follows. Featuring career panels, race relations sessions, and the keynote speech, the conference allows UCSC students of color an opportunity to meet and speak with alumni of color about careers, internships, and graduate schools. Yang's speech will take place from noon to 12:45 p.m. in the College Eight Dining Hall.

The conference is organized by the Career Center with assistance from the African American Resource and Cultural Center, the Alumni Office, and Educational Opportunity Programs. For more information and for disability-related needs, call (408) 459-4839 or send e-mail to jjflip@cats.ucsc.edu.
