Tom Graves, a former UCSC staff member, sang "I'll Be Seeing You" to the audience of students, faculty, and staff. Remembering people who have died with AIDS is more important than ever before, Graves says, because the news out recently about new AIDS-fighting drugs may encourage people to be less vigilant about preventing and fighting the virus.

"I'm not ready to celebrate yet," he says. "It's important to recognize that we've come a long way but we still have a long way to go." It's also important to continually educate people about the virus, so that young people and others who may not have heard the message about AIDS the first time around will hear it, he says.
