The schedule for the winter closure

This year, the campus will close from Tuesday, December 24, through Wednesday, January 1. Six of those nine days are regularly scheduled holidays or weekend days. For the remaining three days--December 26, 27, and 30--employees must use vacation, compensatory time, or take leave without pay.

New employees who are normally required to wait six months before using accrued vacation time may use their vacation even if the required waiting period has not been completed. Those employees who accrue vacation but who don't have enough time accumulated will be allowed to use up to three days of vacation before they earn it. Part-time employees who are eligible for vacation may also borrow vacation hours proportionate to the hours they normally would work.

The closure will be handled much as it has been in recent years, with some housing areas and other buildings remaining open and with safety services, necessary utilities, and other essential services still provided. Employees who are scheduled to work December 26, 27, and 30 will earn their regular rate of pay.
