FREE UCSC WORKSHOP TEACHES PARTICIPANTS HOW TO GET THEIR GARDENS GROWING

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SANTA CRUZ--The manager of the Alan Chadwick Garden at the University of California, Santa Cruz, will teach gardening techniques at a free workshop Saturday, March 11, from noon to 2 p.m. at UCSanta Cruz.

Orin Martin will offer ideas on how to select and start seeds, enrich soil, and prepare garden beds for planting. He will also discuss flower and vegetable varieties that are especially suited to the Santa Cruz growing region.

Sponsored by Friends of the UCSC Farm and Garden, the free workshop will take place at the Louise Cain Gatehouse at the UCSC Farm. Memberships in the Friends will be available the day of the workshop. For more information or directions, call Mae Inthavong at (408) 459-4140.
