UC Santa Cruz Arts & Lectures presents the remarkable theatrical work of Collective: Unconscious in their award-winning Charlie, Victor, Romeo, on Tuesday, March 26 and Wednesday, March 27, 2002 at 8:00pm at the UCSC Theater Arts Mainstage. This riveting dramatic work for the stage is derived entirely from the "black box" cockpit voice recorder transcripts of six major real-life airline emergencies. Made even more poignant by the tragic events of September 11, this unique performance offers an insightful glimpse into decision making and human interaction under intense pressure.

PERFORMANCE
Called "a remarkable performance" by Flying Magazine, the painstakingly researched, produced and directed Charlie, Victor, Romeo allows audience members to enter into the tension filled cockpit of real in-flight emergencies. What the audience witnesses are remarkable portraits of courage, human frailty, and grace under fire. Presented by request to groups ranging from healthcare and flying professionals to West Point students and members of the US Air Force Charlie, Victor, Romeo is not only an exceptional theatrical piece: "It has lessons in it that are universal." –Col. BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Charlie Victor Romeo has won a number of awards including two Drama Desk awards, two New York International Fringe Festival awards and the Grand Prize at the Absolut Angel Arts and Technology Awards, all in 2000; and an award for sound design this year at the Backstage West Garland Awards. Collective: Unconscious called itself "a confederation of artists" working in the visual and performing arts. It defines itself as "first and foremost an experimental theater." It runs a theater, rehearsal, and gallery space which is open to the artistic community at large, and it works to support the original work of its fifteen member/administrators. Since its founding in 1995, Collective: Unconscious has produced dozens of performances at its own space on Ludlow Street in New York City and other at other locations.
