January 11, 2001 To: The Campus Community From: Tom Vani, Vice Chancellor for Business and Administrative Services Re: Stage three emergency energy alert today The campus has just been notified that the California ISO (Independent System Operator) has issued a STAGE THREE EMERGENCY ALERT. This means that rolling blackouts are starting and the campus could lose power today. To prevent this from happening everyone on campus should do everything they can to reduce electrical usage. All portable space heaters and unused equipment should be turned off immediately. Thermostats operating electrical heating systems (especially trailers) should be set to 68 degrees or lower. If we all work together we may be able to keep the lights on and our computers operating. Thank you for your cooperation.
