More than 450 staff members attended Catering Showcase 1997 in the College Eight/Oakes Dining Hall on Tuesday, Sept. 9. Sponsored by University Dining Services, the showcase highlighted new "theme breaks" offered by the Catering Department.

Starting Saturday, Sept. 20, members of the campus community will be able to reserve copies of UCSC's first-ever
university yearbook, "Synecdoche." The yearbook will cover all aspects of student, university, and community life during the 1997-98 academic year.

UC Irvine chancellor to step down next summer

UC Irvine Chancellor Laurel L. Wilkening has announced that she will step down as chancellor next summer and plans to leave the field of higher education, according to a news release issued by UC Irvine. In a separate message, President Atkinson comments on her resignation.
