Memorial service for Kenneth V. Thimann set for May 3 at Crown College

Friends of the late Kenneth V. Thimann will celebrate his life and his contributions to UCSC at a memorial service on Saturday, May 3. The service, which is open to the public, will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Crown College Dining Hall. A reception, also open to the public, will follow immediately in the Crown College courtyard.

Public donations will fund repair of historic dome at Lick Observatory

UCSC officials will soon repair the dome housing Lick Observatory's historic 36-inch refracting telescope, thanks in part to an extraordinary public response to news reports on a portion of the dome that leaks in wet weather.

UC San Francisco dean named as new chancellor

Dr. Haile T. Debas, dean of the School of Medicine at UC San Francisco, will serve as chancellor of the campus beginning July 1 while the search continues for a permanent UCSF chancellor.
