Neferti Tadiar
Assistant Professor of History of Consciousness
Neferti Tadiar comes to UCSC from the University of the Philippines, where she taught in the English Department for the past two years. Her areas of interest are race and gender in the Asia Pacific, Third World feminism, and cultural studies with an emphasis on contemporary Philippine culture. She is the author of "Sexual Economies in the Asia Pacific," a chapter in the book What Is in a Rim? Critical Perspectives on the Pacific Region Idea, edited by Arif Dirlif (Westview Press, 1993). Tadiar earned her Ph.D. in literature from Duke University, an M.A. in comparative literature from the University of Minnesota, and a B.A. in English from the University of the Philippines.
