Banff Festival of Mountain Films, showcasing some of the best mountain and outdoor productions of the year, chosen from over 200 entries--everything from ice climbing in Patagonia to dog sledding in the Iditarod Race--will be held on Saturday, March 1, at 7 p.m. in Classroom Unit 2. Tickets are $8/general and $6/students; the event is a benefit for the Wilderness Orientation Program. For more information, call (408) 459-2806.

UCSC student organizations are now part of the School Assistance Program (SAP). When shoppers tell the cashier at a participating store to give credit to SAP 90, a rebate will be given to the SOAR office to support student organizations. This month, local Longs Drug Stores will double the SAP rebate. Other SAP stores include: Shopper's Corner, Palace Arts, Poor Richards, New Leaf, Zanotto's, Round Table, The Buttery, India Joze, and Zoccoli's. For more information, go to the SOAR Web site: http://soar.ucsc.edu/SOAR/SAP.html.

Performing Age, Performing Crisis is the title of a talk by Jodi Brooks, a lecturer in film studies in the Cultural Studies Program at the University of Melbourne, on Wednesday, February 26, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Oakes Mural Room. The talk is sponsored by the Center for Cultural Studies. For more information, call (408) 459-4899.
