Assistant Professor of Music

Composer and theorist Paul Nauert focuses his research on mathematical and computer models of strategies used by listeners, performers, and composers to organize musical rhythms. His research informs his own computer-assisted compositions. Nauert is associate editor of Current Musicology. He earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in music theory from Columbia University and undergraduate degrees in music composition and electrical engineering from the University of Rochester.
