February 12, 2002 Editor's Advisory: UCSC to dedicate the Center for Ocean Health at Long Marine Laboratory on Thursday, February 21MEDIA ADVISORY What: The University of California, Santa Cruz, will hold a dedication ceremony for the new Center for Ocean Health at the Joseph M. Long Marine Laboratory. When: Thursday, February 21 Who: M.R.C. Greenwood, Chancellor, UC Santa Cruz Where: Seymour Marine Discovery Center and the Center for Ocean Health, Joseph M. Long Marine Laboratory Details: The Center for Ocean Health is a state-of-the-art research facility for UCSC's Institute of Marine Sciences. The 23,000-square-foot facility was completed last spring and has been occupied since June 2001. The center serves as a focal point for scientific research, education, and policy programs in the general area of ocean health. Construction of the Center for Ocean Health was largely funded by a $5 million grant from the David and Lucile Packard Foundation. Directions: Long Marine Lab is located at the end of Delaware Ave. in Santa Cruz. From Santa Cruz, take Highway 1 (Mission St.) north; turn left on Swift St.; turn right on Delaware Ave. Follow Delaware to the Long Marine Lab entrance.
