September 1, 1999 To: Campus Community From: University Events Office Re: Student Move-in Schedule Dear Colleagues: Frosh and transfer students will be moving into their campus residences for the fall quarter on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, September 16, 17, and 18. As always, we expect heavy traffic and some congestion on these days with approximately 1200-1500 students arriving on both Friday and Saturday. For your information, two "keys" are available which detail the move-in schedule for each day and indicate the planned traffic flow. Please also note that the commercial services fair (banks, phone companies, airlines, etc.) for new students will be held at the OPERS East Field House from Friday, September 17 through Wednesday, September 22. If you can take the bus, carpool or otherwise minimize vehicular traffic on campus throughout the move-in period, you'll make this process of moving into residences much easier and more efficient. Please remember that construction is still in progress at the Bay Tree lot and College Nine. As the campus community gears up for the fall quarter, I also ask you to remember how bewildering our scenic campus can be for guests and new students. If is always helpful when we take the extra time to offer directions or assistance to those in need. First impressions last a long, long time.
