Re: McLaughlin Drive lane closure March 8

McLaughlin Drive, from Heller Drive to Steinhart Way near the Baskin Engineering Building, will be reduced to one lane on Wednesday, March 8. Weather permitting, the Core West Parking Structure contractor will be receiving a substantial delivery of rebar. The delivery truck will park in the eastbound lane of McLaughlin Drive, and a crane will remove the material from the truck and place it on site.

For safety and to minimize delays, flag persons will direct pedestrian and vehicular traffic. The work is scheduled to take approximately six hours.

In order to inform members of the UCSC community of the impacts of construction on campus, Currents is now posting updates on any construction projects that affect transportation and parking. This update also includes information on the Mission Street widening project and contains links to construction, parking, and transportation Web sites.

This column is updated regularly on Currents' Web site . It also appears in each newsprint edition of Currents.

In addition, an e-mail tree will be sent to the campus community when there is a substantial impact to transportation and parking from a construction project.

For questions or comments, please e-mail Steve Ayraud, Physical Planning & Construction principal engineer, at ayraud@cats.ucsc.edu
