October 15, 1999 To: The Campus Community Re: Flu Shots Available Please note that yearly flu shots are now available at the Cowell Student Health Center. Beginning on October 11, drop-in hours will be on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, from 9 to 10 a.m., and on Wednesdays from 9 to 11 a.m. The shots will be given in Room 152 of the Health Center. The $10 fee can be paid the day of service. Please note that persons in the high-risk groups listed below are encouraged to get a flu shot either at their private physician's office or at the Health Center. Some off-campus flu sites are posted at the front of the Health Center. Supplies are limited. High Risk Groups Include Persons 65 or older; with cardiovascular or pulmonary disease, including asthma; who live in nursing homes or care facilities housing patients with chronic disease; with chronic metabolic diseases, including diabetes and renal disease, which has required medical follow-up in the past year; capable of infecting those in high-risk categories, such as professional or home care givers, nursing home staff, or household members of high-risk groups; with weakened immune systems; and living in close quarters, such as residence halls to minimize the risk of illness in case of a flu outbreak.
