Re: Regents approve appointment for UCSC's Vice Provost, Academic Affairs

We are very pleased to announce that the UC Regents have approved the appointment of Professor of Anthropology Alison Galloway as Vice Provost of Academic Affairs, effective immediately.

Professor Galloway has held the position on an interim basis since last August, demonstrating exceptional leadership in coordinating campuswide academic planning, program development, and program review, in collaboration with the academic divisions. She also has held responsibility for development and implementation of policies affecting faculty, including personnel actions, faculty diversity, and leadership development.

Her previous campus leadership roles included service as Anthropology Department chair and vice chair of the Academic Senate from 2001 - 03, and chair of the Academic Senate from 2003 - 05.

A member of the UCSC faculty since 1990, Professor Galloway is one of the nation's leading forensic anthropologists, regularly analyzing forensic evidence and providing expert witness testimony. A physical anthropologist, her research focuses on human evolution and human skeletal biology.

Please join us in congratulating Professor Galloway and supporting her continued success.
