Re: UCSC student dies from auto accident injuries
With great sadness, I am writing to let you know that one of the students who was injured in yesterday's auto accident on campus died from his injuries early this morning.
Kenton Dornbush had been a UCSC student since fall quarter 2003. A junior and member of College Nine, Kenton had a great interest in the arts, especially in photography, and he intended to create his own major. An excellent student with many friends, he was interested in cooking and traveling, and had a passion for soccer and skateboarding, among other outdoor activities.
The family is working with College Nine staff to plan a memorial service on campus. It is scheduled to take place this Saturday, October 1, at 2 p.m., at the Cowell Provost's House.
College Nine staff are also facilitating counseling services for anyone who would like help in dealing with this heartbreaking news.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that contributions in Kenton's name be sent in care of Ward Angles, to the Sierra Institute Environmental Field Programs, Office of Extended Education, Humboldt State University, Arcata, CA 95521.
Please join me in extending deepest condolences to Kenton's family and friends. We all share in this very tragic loss.
Sincerely,
Denice D. Denton Chancellor
