Re: Update on announced Metro bus system strike

As you may have read, drivers from the Santa Cruz County Metro bus system have announced that they will commence strike activities on Thursday, September 1.

In case you missed it, a campus email earlier this month encourages UCSC people who would be affected by a strike to prepare alternatives in advance (see http://messages.ucsc.edu/05-06/metrostrike.asp).

I also want to alert you to the fact that Metro drivers have begun a work action that is already creating sporadic disruptions in service countywide, including on routes to and from the university. Metro administrators are unable to predict the times and routes that will be disrupted. It is expected that these service disruptions will continue until Thursday, at which time the full strike will go into effect if no settlement has been reached.

For updated information before and during a strike, please go to the following TAPS site:
http://www2.ucsc.edu/taps/pages/metro_strike.html
