Administrative MessageJune 27, 2006 To: Campus Community From: UCSC Pubic Information Office Re: Details for Denton MemorialAn event to honor the extraordinary life and achievements of Denice D. Denton, who served as the ninth chancellor of UC Santa Cruz, will take place on Thursday, June 29, at 10:00 a.m. Location is the campus's Music Recital Hall. A reception will follow immediately after the service. France Cordova, Chancellor of UC Riverside, will preside. Among speakers are UC President Robert Dynes, Professor Angela Davis, and representatives of students and staff. Faculty, staff and students who wish to attend the memorial service are urged to make use of alternative transportation. Shuttles will be provided for staff at 2300 Delaware, Swift Street, and other off-campus locations. Parking will be available at the Performing Arts parking lot. Additional overflow parking will be available at the Core West parking structure; shuttles will transport attendees to and from the Music Recital Hall from the Core West parking structure. The event will be simulcast at the Media Theater and also will be broadcast outside the entrance to the Music Recital Hall. Managers and supervisors are encouraged to provide release time to employees to attend this event, based on operational considerations.
