Re: Results of Campus Diversity Study

We invite all members of the campus community to join CAAD for a presentation and discussion of preliminary results of the Diversity Climate Study, launched in fall of 2005 and continued earlier this year with discussion forums and a campuswide survey on diversity issues. This event will be held on Tuesday, May 16th, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Bay Tree Conference Center, Room D.

The study report is currently being drafted, and in line with the overall study methodology, we are inviting comments and conversation about our findings and recommendations. We would also like to allow the campus community to hear a sample of the comments provided in answer to the survey questions.

Though there is much talk today about diversity, and though many campuses around the country have conducted studies of their populations and endeavored to enhance campus life, we would like to focus on how to make those efforts more meaningful. Our survey was distributed to all populations of the campus community, and from the approximately 5,000 responses received, CAAD is endeavoring to imagine campus transformations as an integrated process that crosses boundaries between units, divisions, and constituencies.

We hope to produce a study that will assist the campus in making positive and real change. Please join us in helping to make that possible by attending and contributing on May 16th. We look forward to seeing you then.
