Re: Introduction of Identity Management Project

You are invited to attend the long-awaited campus introduction of the Identity Management Project on November 18 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Namaste Lounge, College 9/10. Light refreshments will be provided.

Identity Management -- sometimes called Directory Services -- manages general information about people in a central system. This information includes data such as address, phone number, email address, affiliation (e.g., "employee," "faculty," "student"), and what accounts a person has or is eligible for. By making this information available in central location, it can be leveraged by multiple systems to provide services to the campus community. For example, one early result from this project will be the potential to reduce or eliminate the multiple local phone directories now maintained by many individuals across the campus.

The terms "Identity Management" and "Directory Services" mean different things to different people. Come on November 18 to find out more about what the Identity Management Project is and how it may affect you and your daily work at UCSC.

All staff and faculty are invited to attended. Please email Eric Goodman, the project manager, at ericg@ucsc.edu if you have any questions about this event.
