Re: Request for Comment--Draft UCSC Safety and Injury Management Policy

Dear Colleagues:

UCSC recognizes that strong environmental, safety, and injury management helps us achieve our academic mission, and therefore, I write to you asking for comments on a draft Safety and Injury Management (SIM) Policy for the campus that will help create a safer and healthier workplace for us all.

This draft policy is available at http://matman.ucsc.edu/forms/SIM_Policy_ver17.pdf. The policy seeks to establish a process that supports the systematic integration of safety, health, and environmental functions into campus activities and operations. It outlines roles, responsibilities, and programs that aim to reduce work-related injuries and illnesses and their impacts. The SIM Policy will be applicable to the entire UCSC campus community.

Please direct any comments to Lisa J. Rose, director of University Business Services, at lrose@ucsc.edu (mailto:lrose@ucsc.edu). Comments should be submitted no later than April 30, 2005.

Thank you.
