Professor Isaacson will discuss how nanotechnology can be used for exploration and diagnostics of living systems at the micro and nano scale. His research centers on biomedical applications, such as, how the extension of these tools might be used for neural prosthetic devices to restore brain function. Michael Isaacson is the Narinder Singh Kapany Professor of Optoelectronics at UC Santa Cruz and Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies in the Baskin School of Engineering. He has received numerous awards for his work in developing novel tools for the exploration of the micro and nano world including the Burton Medal, an Alexander von Humboldt Award, and the Rank Prize. Please Note: Admission to the NASA Ames facility requires a valid driver's license or government-issued photo ID. There may be additional requirements for foreign nationals. Directions to the NASA Ames Conference Center and Parking: Either from the South or from the North, take Highway 101 to the Moffett Field exit, toward Moffett Field. At the guard gate, please be prepared to show your valid driver's license or government-issued ID. Stay in the left hand lane and go straight. You'll be on South Akron St. Go past the 3-way stop at McCord St. The NASA Ames Conference Center is the building on the left hand side. Park in the parking lot behind the building. Walk around the building to the front entrance. Alternately, park in the parking lot on the right side of the street.
