Re: Student Affairs Appointments
I am very pleased to announce three key positions were recently filled in Student
Affairs.
Jean Marie Scott has been hired to serve as the Associate Vice Chancellor, Housing,
Dining and Child Care Services. Jean Marie Scott has been the College Administrative
Officer at Porter College for over six years. Jean Marie brings to her new role over
twenty years of experience in organizational and administrative management of complex
higher learning environments directly relating to both Student Affairs and Housing.
In addition, she has six years of experience as an instructor for college programs
focusing on Student Leadership and Community Concepts, and has served as the keynote
speaker for several high profile organizations including San Jose State University,
Western Training Institute, and the University of California Office of the President.
Deana Slater has been hired to serve as the new College Administrative Officer for
Colleges Nine and Ten. Deana brings to this position extensive Student Affairs experience,
both in the management of decentralized residential life programs, as well as the
fiscal, and daily operations management of a residential college. Deana has been
the Merrill College Administrative Officer for over two years. Previously, she was
employed with the University of San Diego, where she served as the Assistant Resident
Dean, and Resident Dean of Students.
Elise Herrera-Mahoney, after an internal Student Affairs Divisional Office reorganization,
has been hired to serve as the Divisional Administrative Officer (DAO) on an interim
basis. Elise has been the Student Affairs Divisional Business Manager for the past
six years, and brings to this position extensive budget, fiscal, operations, and
management experience. She will continue to focus on Divisional budget issues, and
her responsibilities have now expanded to include space and capital planning; Human
Resources Management including, labor relations issues (bargaining and grievance
process) for the Division; assume primary responsibility for a variety of ad hoc
projects that concern a broad range of divisional, campus, and Universitywide issues.
As my responsibilities expand beyond the campus, Elise will serve as my on-campus
liaison.
Please join me in congratulating Jean Marie, Deana, and Elise as they assume these
new responsibilities.
