Re: Register and vote
I am very pleased to join California Secretary of State Bill Jones in encouraging
all eligible Californians to register and vote in the
general election of November 7. U.S. citizens who will be at least 18 years old
by election day are eligible--and strongly encourage--to register and vote.
To cast a ballot this November, you must be registered to vote no later than October
10. If you have moved since you last registered to
vote, or changed your name, it is necessary to re-register with your current information.
The completed registration form needs to be received by the County Election Office
by midnight, October 10.
Registration is easy. You may already have noticed that there are a number of voter
registration tables on campus. You can register to
vote at any one of them, or you can pick up a registration form at McHenry Library,
at any of our College offices, any branch of the
U.S. Post Office (including on campus), or at the County Registrar of Voters office.
Important decisions are on this year's ballot, including President and Vice President,
members of the U.S. Congress, statewide
propositions, and many local candidates and issues. All of us share an important
responsibility to register to vote, inform ourselves on the issues, consider them
thoughtfully, and then, vote on November 7.
I look forward to seeing you at the polls!
