Re: Campus Forum to Discuss Divisional Long-Range Plans
Academic Senate Chair Roger Anderson and I have had several discussions regarding
the desirability to provide the campus community with the opportunity for informed
discussions regarding campus growth. To this end, we are pleased to initiate a series
of campus forums. I am writing to invite you to attend the first of these forums
on May 2 to discuss the current campus long-range planning process. The event is
scheduled from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. in Classroom Unit 2.
The planning initiative, launched earlier this academic year, has moved into its
second phase. Each academic and administrative division has completed the first step
of the project, drafting and submitting an executive summary of their preliminary
10-year plan. Now, in a phase of the process that will continue through June, Academic
Senate and administrative committees will review each of those plans. The May 2 forum
will provide an overview of the planning process, brief presentations by the academic
deans of their divisional plans, and ample time for questions and discussion. The
academic and administrative divisional executive summaries and other documents related
to the long-range planning process are posted on the web at: http://planning.ucsc.edu/plans2001/
