Re: Conference on Disability, the Law, and Higher Education

The UCSC Disability Resource Center will host a day-long program to discuss legal issues and address the impact of increasing numbers of complaints on university campuses relating to access, non-discrimination, and accommodation of people with disabilities. With an introduction by Chancellor Greenwood, the presenter will be Salome Heyward, a nationally-known attorney, writer, and lecturer specializing in disability law and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Dr. Heyward will be discussing the impact of student program access requirements on faculty and staff, computing access requirements, and employment issues. This program is designed so that audience members can choose to attend selectively, based on their areas of interest, or participate in all programs.

10:15 -11:30AM -Technology Access

Location of afternoon session: College Eight Red Room
2-3:30 PM- Employment and the ADA

This event coincides with Deaf Awareness Week at UCSC. Events include the film "In the Land of the Deaf"; a performance by Missy Keast, a Deaf professional story-teller; and an American Sign Language workshop with Cowell student Sarah Beauchamp.
