Janice Setser, a food security specialist, lives and works at the edge of the legendary Pamir Mountain range in Tajikistan. While managing health, agriculture, and disaster preparedness projects, she developed a nuanced understanding of the many constraints that locals face. Her respect for the people in this traditionally conservative region led Janice to independently pursue her passion of empowering people through social entrepreneurship and capacity building projects. She works with youth on skill development, with local beekeepers to improve the value chain for honey, and with other locals to build the tourism industry.
