Cancer relay raises more than $80,000
The American Cancer Society's 1999 Relay-for-Life--cosponsored by the campus's Community Development and Health unit--raised more than $80,000 for cancer research, according to event organizers. The relay took place in late June at Soquel High School and included a wall of memories, survivor's lap, kid's corral, and food vendors. UC Mexus offers one-year residency in fine arts
UC Mexus is taking applications for a one-year artist-in-residence or researcher position in art, creative writing, dance, film, music, or theater, to start during the 2000 calendar year. Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. or M.F.A. degree at an institution of higher education in Mexico or at a UC campus within five years of the start of the residency to be eligible. UC Mexus is a multicampus research unit focusing on Mexican and Chicano/Latino themes and is headquartered at UC Riverside.
