Poised over a harmonium, music legend Ali Akbar Khan instructs students in his spring-quarter class, North Indian Music Workshop. The class drew some 30 students and members of the public interested in learning classical Indian vocal and instrumental techniques. Akbar Khan, regarded as one of world's leading performers and teachers of Indian classical music, will be conducting similar classes and performing on campus for the next five years as a Distinguished Adjunct Professor of Music.
