History professor presents downtown lecture

History professor Tyler Stovall will present a talk titled "The History of African
American Expatriates in Paris." The talk, which is free and open to the public,
takes place on Thursday, May 11, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the McPherson Center for Art
and History, 705 Front St. A reception follows.
Stovall, who is also provost of Stevenson College, studies 20th-century France. He
is the author of The Rise of the Paris Red Belt (1990) and Paris Noir:
African Americans in the City of Light (1996).
The talk is presented as part of the Humanities Lecture Series, sponsored jointly
by the Humanities Division and the Art Museum of Santa Cruz County. The series runs
