She also appeared last week on KPFA Radio's Morning Show. Recent findings about the diving behavior of marine mammals by biologist Terrie
Williams and her coworkers continue to attract media coverage, including an article
in the New York Times and stories on NBC Nightly News and Dateline NBC. A story in the San Jose Mercury News about the growing number of gray whales
turning up dead along the California coast featured the comments of campus veterinarian
David Casper and marine biologist Burney Le Boeuf. Le Boeuf, who
was also interviewed by CNN on the same story, said that the gray whale
population is now larger than ever and their feeding grounds in the Bering Sea may
not be able to sustain such a large population. Anthropology's Judith Habicht-Mauche was a guest on KQED Radio's public affairs program Forum last week. She discussed the Chaco phenomenon in the Anasazi area during a show that focused on the 12th century in the American Southwest. Psychology's Anthony Pratkanis appeared in a San Jose Mercury News article about the mass media's coverage of the Elian Gonzales case. . . . Also in psychology, Elliot Aronson was sought out by a reporter at Veja, Brazil's main weekly, for a story about jealousy.
